The History of Pilates


Pilates was developed by German born Joseph Pilates who believed mental and physical health were closely connected.  His methods were influenced by exercises including gymnastics, boxing, dancing and wrestling.  He said “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness” and I completely believe this.  He also believed that “The mind when housed within a healthy body possesses a glorious sense of power.”
