Spinning

Spinning/indoor cycling is a form of exercise with sessions focusing on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity (race days) and recovery, and involves using a special stationary exercise bicycle with a weighted flywheel.

The sessions can be challenging but they give results!

Benefits of Spinning

Builds strength - spinning works the whole body

  • Core/upper body & back. Spinning uses the core to stabilize the body throughout the session, uses the upper body to incorporate the back muscles to maintain a strong spine.

  • Glutes. Feel the glutes working with each foot turn when sitting and standing.

  • Quadriceps. The quadriceps will be the main muscles used as you pedal and climb hills, leading to strong, toned legs.

  • Hamstrings. Cycling helps to strengthen and loosen the hamstrings, which lift the pedal up with each cycle and stabilize your joints.

  • Lower legs. spinning works calves with each pedal stroke, which helps to protect your ankles and feet while cycling and during everyday activities.
